MP-HT sweepers<\/a> have a structural design that allows inspection<\/strong> of the machine’s main components<\/strong>, including the brushes, with extreme ease<\/strong>: simply remove or raise the waste container and in an instant the operator can check for any trapped material and the condition of the main brush.<\/p>

Sweeping the floor is a cleaning operation that all of us have done. Regardless of whether the activity is manual or mechanical, the type<\/strong> and quality<\/strong> of the brush<\/strong>, whether installed in a professional sweeper or that of a simple broom, fundamentally affects the effectiveness<\/strong> and sweeping results<\/strong> that can be achieved. <\/p>

Sweeper Brushes: Functionality<\/h2>

Side and main brushes are fundamental parts of the sweeper<\/a>.<\/p>

The sweeping system consists of one or more side brushes<\/strong>, which direct<\/strong> the dirt<\/strong> toward the center<\/strong>, that is, toward the cylindrical main brush<\/strong>, which has the task of loading<\/strong> the dirt into the waste hopper<\/strong>.<\/p>

In front-loading sweepers, the main brush moves the dirt forward, while in rear-loading sweepers it “throws” it backward toward the container located on the rear of the machine.<\/p>

Types of Sweeper Brushes<\/h5>

In sweepers there are therefore two main types of brushes:<\/p>

  • Main brushes<\/strong>: with a cylindrical shape, these brushes have a rotating motion with an axis parallel to the ground and rotate in the opposite direction to the direction of travel. Their task is to collect the dirt and throw it into the container compartment. <\/li>
  • Side brushes<\/strong>: with a disk shape, side brushes have a rotating motion with an axis perpendicular to the ground and serve to direct dirt into the collection path. They also allow dirt to be collected near edges and against walls, curbs, etc.

    Both types of brushes are distinguished by:<\/p>

    <\/p><\/li>

  • the size<\/strong> and material<\/strong> of the brush body<\/strong>, which can be made of plastic, cardboard, wood, or iron.<\/li>
  • the length<\/strong> of the bristles<\/strong>.<\/li>
  • the density<\/strong> of distribution<\/strong> of the bristles<\/strong>.<\/li>
  • the thickness<\/strong> of the bristle<\/strong>.<\/li>
  • the material<\/strong> of the bristle<\/strong>, which can be polypropylene<\/strong> (PPL), tampico<\/strong>, mixed steel<\/strong>, nylon<\/strong>, or steel<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/section>

    How to Select the Right Brushes for Your Sweeper<\/h2>

    When choosing a brush, in addition to examining its technical characteristics, it is important to evaluate<\/strong> the type of flooring<\/strong> and dirt to be cleaned<\/strong>.<\/p>

    As a general guideline, to collect coarse<\/strong> and heavy<\/strong> dirt, even adhering<\/strong> to the flooring (e.g., wet leaves), it is recommended to install brushes<\/strong> whose bristles<\/strong> are more rigid<\/strong>, suitable for collecting heavy and coarse dirt (e.g., metallic materials and dust in workshops and metalworking facilities), while bristles<\/strong> that are more soft<\/strong> and thin are better suited for collecting light<\/strong> and very fine dirt.<\/p>

    If there is a need to scrape<\/strong> the floor surface, it is advisable to install brushes<\/strong> with polypropylene<\/strong> bristles combined with steel<\/strong> bristles.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/section>

    Care and Maintenance of Sweeper Brushes<\/h2>

    For good cleaning work, another fundamental aspect is regular<\/strong> and careful maintenance<\/strong> of the brushes.
    There are a few simple<\/strong> precautions<\/strong> to consider to ensure that the brushes, both main and side, remain efficient over time:<\/p>

    1. at the end of each work session, check<\/strong> that there is no material tangled on the main brush<\/strong> such as straps, ropes, etc.;<\/li>
    2. similarly, ensure<\/strong> that there is no<\/strong> material tangled in the brush drive components<\/strong>, for example in the belts;<\/li>
    3. periodically check<\/strong> the condition<\/strong> of wear<\/strong> of both the main and side brushes.
